The St. Pete Pier won 'Best Project' in the Landscape/Urban Development category in this year's Southeast Best Projects contest at Engineering News-Record. From various places across the Southeast, the pier was recognized for delivering an impressive array of outstanding construction achievements and design excellence worthy of commemorating.
The new Powel Elementary and Science Leadership Academy Middle School (P-SLAMS) was recently awarded a 2021 Award for Excellence from ULI Philadelphia in "public-private partnerships, education development, and community engagement." In an interview with ULI, John Fry, President of Drexel University, said, "What stood out for me was not the great public-private collaboration that created this new public school facility, but the energy and excitement of the children from Powel and SLA Middle School... It was their school, and the middle schooler from SLA Middle School said it best when she said, 'this will be our home.'”
Our building, Kraft Hall for Social Sciences, was recently featured in Texas Architect, in a great synopsis of the past, present, and future of the distinctive architecture of the Rice University campus. Kraft Hall, the first building on a new formal axis of the expanding campus, sets new precedents for site planning, massing, and materials on this lush academic enclave. This building is designed to enable and promote collaboration among the two departments and four institutions housed within. An inner courtyard mixes fields of native plantings with areas for informal gatherings beneath a verdant canopy of river birch trees, transforming Rice University’s traditional formal courtyard pattern into a dynamic and productive ecological system.

Rogers Partners joined Mayor de Blasio, the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC), Nanotronics, Empire State Development (ESD) and CUNY's Medgar Evers College for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Nanotronics' flagship manufacturing center located in the Navy Yard's historic Building 20, a 150-year-old former shipbuilding factory.
We are thrilled to have collaborated with Nanotronics on the design of this - in the words of Matthew Putman, CEO and cofounder of Nanotronics - “intelligent factory where robotics, AI, and humans can work together to create a sustainable future.”
Associate Partner Elizabeth Stoel will join industry and education leaders to discuss the decade-long public-private partnership between Drexel University and the School District of Philadelphia that lead to the construction of the Powel Elementary and Science Leadership Academy Middle Schools (P/SLA-MS). The project is part of a new innovation district in West Philadelphia that stitches together public education, residents of an existing neighborhood, higher education institutions, and new research developments. The discussion will be facilitated by the Design Advocacy Group on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 10 am.
